A few years ago we were busy building something else entirely. Every week we needed to ask people questions, what they wanted, what kept breaking, whether they would actually pay for it, and every week we lost an afternoon to the form itself.
The tools were either free and slightly embarrassing to send, or lovely and priced like enterprise software. Nearly all of them treated a form as a wall of boxes to push through, which is more or less the opposite of how a good conversation goes.
So we put the other thing down and built what we actually needed. Fields that react as people type. Logic that lives with the question instead of in a spreadsheet nobody wants to open. Integrations that take a minute rather than a sprint.
We sent the first version to a handful of friends, mostly to stop ourselves from tinkering with it forever. They passed it on to their friends. That is still, honestly, how most people find us.

What we believe
Four things we keep coming back to whenever a decision is genuinely difficult.
Start with the person filling it in
Every decision gets checked against the person on the other side of the form, not the person building it. If it confuses them, it is wrong, however neat it looked in the design file.
Simple beats clever
If a feature needs a tutorial before it makes sense, we have not finished designing it. We would rather ship one obvious thing than three impressive ones nobody finds.
Build in the open
We publish what we are working on, what we got wrong, and roughly when things will land. The roadmap is public because the feedback on it is what shapes the product.
Independent, on purpose
We are funded by the people who use OnlyForm rather than by investors. It keeps the team small, the pace steady, and our answer to “who is this for?” refreshingly simple.
